Friends of Cathedral Music is a UK registered charity (no 285121) founded in 1956. We operate nationwide in partnership with cathedral authorities and directors of music throughout the land.
We have been working for nearly 60 years to safeguard choral music at Britain’s cathedrals, colleges and major churches. We are the largest provider of grants in this field anywhere in the world. To date, this money has come solely from our members’ subscriptions and legacies. But demand for our funds is greatly outstripping our resources and the gap is widening. Thus the Diamond Fund for Choristers.
This is the first time we have looked for support outside our membership, and the first appeal to support choristers across the nation.
We have never before raised funds outside our ranks. However, we have long experience of evaluating bids for financial support, assessing need, and applying funds where most needed.
We are unpaid volunteers, so our costs are minimal.

We are three part time volunteers – Maurice, Felicity and Jim. We are answerable to Friends of Cathedral Music. We expect to be joined shortly by a professional fund raiser funded by the Linbury Trust.
